Volunteer Service Time Clause Samples
Volunteer Service Time. The first three (3) calendar years spent participating as a member of the Saltspring Island Fire Rescue in a volunteer capacity shall be equal to one (1) years service, while each additional two (2) years shall be equal to one (1) years service credit towards adjustments in pay and holiday schedule for all employees covered by this agreement. Time shall be pro-rated where necessary for purposes of calculations.
Volunteer Service Time. Personnel joining the regular staff of the fire department from the ranks of the Sooke Firefighters’ Association shall be given credit for previous time served with the Sooke Fire Rescue Department as follows:
a) Six (6) months credit for every year of completed service, up to a maximum of two (2) years credit, providing that the candidate is certified to NFPA 1001, Level 2 or equivalent.
b) This credit will apply and be used only for the purpose of establishing starting salary. This credit shall also apply to future wage increment indices requiring a service time component. For all other calculations of seniority, the date of hire shall apply.
