Common use of Weekend Position Clause in Contracts

Weekend Position. (a) Notwithstanding the other clauses of the Collective Agreement, the Employer may post a position which requires the successful applicant to work every weekend as a part of their schedule/shift cycle in which case the schedule/shift cycle will not be deemed to violate any of the clauses of the Collective Agreement and working such shifts shall not entitle the Employee to overtime. (b) Weekend positions must be posted as per the "Appointments, Vacancies and Promotions" Article. (c) The introduction of weekend positions shall not be as a result of schedule changes which remove a weekend shift from a current Employee in order to create the weekend position.
