When requesting Materials Clause Samples

When requesting Materials. (a) Investigators must provide a rationale for access that involves a highly innovative research strategy and must also provide assurance that they have sufficient resources, expertise, and funding to complete the research proposed. (b) Investigators must ask for the smallest amount (both volume and number) needed to perform scientifically meaningful experiments. New research techniques or new areas of investigation should be proposed as a pilot study in order to minimize the use of specimens for risky, unproven approaches. It may be desirable or necessary to modify study designs or utilize different materials to address the question where availability is limited.
