Employees that participate in presenting at Swedish Medical Center’s Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day celebration will be paid the appropriate contract rate for time spent presenting, not to exceed two (2) hours of paid time. Time spent in preparation will not be eligible for paid time.
Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day. An employee who is not normally assigned to duty during winter or spring recess shall be paid for those holidays occurring during any recess if he/she was in paid status on the day preceding or next succeeding such recess.

Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day. Compensation for these holidays shall be determined by multiplying the employee's hourly rate of pay at the time of payment by one and forty-four hundredths (1.44) by eight (8) hours for each holiday. Payment for holidays shall be made at the time of the first pay in November. An employee who works on the actual designated holiday, (whose shift is scheduled to start on the holiday) shall be compensated at a rate of 1.5 x 8 x 1.44 x base pay plus 16 x base pay (calculation for holiday pay) in lieu of his/her regular pay for that day of work or may elect to receive compensatory time at a rate of one hour for each hour worked. An employee shall not receive holiday pay if:
1. He/She is not on active pay status on the day which the holiday falls;
2. He/She has an unauthorized absence on his/her regularly scheduled working day immediately preceding or following a holiday;
3. Having been scheduled and required to work on a holiday, he/she fails to report for work without justifiable reason. Upon termination, the employee shall receive payment for any holiday occurring between January 1 of that year and the date of termination inclusive. Should an employee terminate after payment of holiday pay but before any holiday that calendar year, the employee's final pay shall be adjusted to recover payment for said holiday. Upon the death of a firefighter of the Fire Division, said employee's estate shall receive a cash payment for any holiday occurring between January 1 of that year and the date of his/her death inclusive.

All 12 month, regular classified school employees, whether salaried or compensated on an hourly or per diem basis, are entitled to all of the above eight holidays plus Independence Day and two floating days during Christmas vacation for which they shall be paid their regular salary or their regular rate of pay. The days during Christmas vacation are subject to supervisory approval such that adequate building coverage is maintained and these days are not subject to overtime pay for national holidays. The bus drivers' salaries shall be based upon an hourly rate factor rounded to the nearest quarter hour. Time schedules shall be established prior to the opening of school in the fall.
