Should a vacancy occur while a nurse on layoff, after the job posting provisions have been complied with, a nurse on layoff will be given the first opportunity to return to duty provided she already possesses the necessary qualifications, ability and competence to perform the work available and subject to all applicable seniority clauses before a new nurse is hired.
