The Board felt that the STEAM competition and the hands on activities with mentors and teachers would be beneficial to the at risk participants. They did not feel that monies should be used toward the purchase of cars. They felt the participates should have some skin in the game and should rely heavily on corporate sponsors for the cars and the building of the cars should be left up to the participants.
