The program creates a detour towards upward mobility for students, who might otherwise be caught in the proverbial school-to-prison pipeline. Students who are awarded the REACH Scholarship and who take advantage of the opportunities of the program are better able to access resources and protective factors such as mentorship, academic coaching, and parent involvement (a requirement of theREACH program). Through the Muscogee County REACH Scholars program, scholars have positive experiences through community supports that encourages and provides resources for social-emotional strength and development.
