Volunteers, contract services personnel, observers, interns, and students associated with Washington Regional (WR) may occasionally have access to confidential patient health information or proprietary information that is confidential and not subject to disclosure under federal or state law including, but not limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”) and the Privacy Regulations promulgated in accordance therewith (45 C.F.R. Parts 160 and 164). Such confidential information may include, but is not limited to, patient addresses, telephone numbers, social security numbers, age, marital status, medical diagnoses, and any other demographic or personal data that may be collected by WR in the conduct of its business. Confidential information would also include information concerning WR employees and business operations.
