The Prison services a mainly indigenous population from towns and police lock-ups locally and throughout the Pilbara and Kimberley regions. The Prison acts as a receival centre for the region with long term accommodation for medium/minimum security male and female prisoners. It has a holding capacity for maximum security prisoners and acts as an assessment/transit prison for the Pilbara and Kimberley regions.
