Contract Type FiledFebruary 13th, 2022Gonzales, Texas – May 1, 2015– The Board of Directors of the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, GFS Electric Cooperative, Inc., of which GVEC is the sole member, has entered into an agreement to acquire a fifty-percent ownership interest in a 418 megawatt natural gas-fired peaking power plant to be constructed and located in Marion, TX. Named the Guadalupe Peaking Energy Center (GPEC), this new generation facility is a business arrangement between GFS and an affiliate of Calpine Corporation (Calpine), the largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources in America.
