On 2 November 1995, the parties entered into a Written agreement (exhibit P2) wherein the Defendant was contracted to carry out additions and alterations to a dwelling house for the Plaintiffs "as per materials supplied and to be supplied by the clients," for a contract price of R500,500. The works to be performed wore specified in the bill of quantities prepared by Hubert Alton & Co Quantity Surveyor (exhibit P1).
