ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV TRANSFER OF COPYRIGHT AGREEMENT
Transfer of Copyright Agreement • May 14th, 2005

Scientific publishers and authors share a common interest in the protection of copyright: authors principally because they want their creative works to be protected from plagiarism and other unlawful uses, publishers because they need to protect their work and investment in the production, marketing and distribution of the chapter written by the author. In order to do so effectively, publishers request a formal written transfer of copyright from the author(s) for each chapter published. Publishers and authors are also concerned that the integrity of an chapter (once refereed and accepted for publication) be maintained, and in order to protect that reference value and validation process, we ask that authors recognize that distribution (including through the Internet/WWW or other on-line means) of the version of the chapter as accepted for publication is best administered by the Publisher.
