It is the intent and the purpose of the parties hereto that this Agreement will promote the mutual interests of the Company and its employees by providing for the operation of the Company's plants as specified in the Recognition Clause of this Contract with due regard for quality and efficiency and for the safety and welfare of the employees, and to set forth a basic agreement covering rates of pay, hours of work and conditions of employment to be observed by the parties hereto.
