This Umbrella Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the "Agreement" or "Umbrella Agreement") shall be for the purpose of collaboration between the Parties to evaluate the feasibility of applying bulk metallic glass materials in high wear components tolerant of temperature extremes for space exploration vehicles. The proposed activity seeks to evaluate materials, such as iron-containing bulk metallic glasses, uniquely produced by UCSD using specialized materials characterization techniques at LaRC. The specific tasks of this proposed activity include UCSD producing and providing material test articles to LaRC, LaRC assessing and testing properties relevant to applications in extreme space environments, such as on the lunar surface, and joint characterization of material and structural properties of the test articles by UCSD and LaRC.

The proposed activity seeks to evaluate materials, such as boron carbide, uniquely produced by Purdue using specialized materials characterization techniques at LaRC. The specific tasks of this proposed activity include Purdue producing and providing material test articles to LaRC, LaRC assessing and testing properties relevant to applications in extreme space environments, such as on the lunar surface, and joint characterization of material and structural properties of the test articles by Purdue and LaRC.
