This Annex shall be for the purpose of In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) which involves any hardware or operation that harnesses and utilizes "in-situ" resources to create products and services. Integral to mission success, lunar ISRU technologies will extend sustained human presence to the Moon to enable eventual settlement thus acting as a testbed in preparation for human exploration of Mars and other destinations. In addition, it will facilitate the pursuit of scientific activities and potentially expand Earth's economic sphere to encompass the Moon.
