Purpose of fostering: To allow a rescue Akita to live in a home environment while awaiting permanent placement, permitting the foster family to evaluate the Akita's temperament and to work with it to identify and resolve any issues with socialization and house training. The additional exposure the Akita gets from being treated as "one of the family" (walks, outings, etc.) often speeds up the rehabilitation process.
