On June 24, 1998, a landmark agree- ment was put together by the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) set new goals for hospital pol- lution prevention over the next five years, and brought together a stake- holders’ council to enforce the provi- sions of the MOU. Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) was an active participant in the preparation of the agreement, and sat on the AHA Leadership Council.
