On December 23, 2020, the United States of America, acting through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (“MCC”), and the Government of Malawi (the “Government”) signed a Grant and Implementation Agreement (the “Agreement”), pursuant to which MCC agreed to provide a grant of up to US$11,650,000 to the Government to facilitate development of a compact (the “Compact”) program to reduce poverty through economic growth in Malawi. Under the terms of the Agreement, The Government has designated the Malawi Millennium Development Trust (“MMD”) lead by a National Coordinator to implement some or all of the Government’s responsibilities under the Agreement. After the Compact is signed, it is expected that MMD will be succeeded by the Millennium Challenge Account – Malawi II (“MCA-Malawi II”), who will be empowered to implement the Government’s responsibilities under the Agreement and under any future compact. Any reference to the MMD in this interim bid challenge system will be deemed a reference
