Wiltshires Twin & Sister Towns
Twinning Agreement • October 24th, 2022

A twin or sister city town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. Close links are maintained with exchange visits occurring on a regular basis. Some streets or buildings are often named after places within their twin town. As an example of this Mayenne Place in Devizes was built in the 1950s and named after its French twin town. Many towns and cities have twinning associations who work with their twin town officials to maintain friendships and cultural and economic reciprocation. Other towns are twinned with towns named after them or those with a similar or same name in countries across the globe. Others within the county have been selected by the twin themselves such as Disney World Florida twinning with Swindon.
