After careful consideration, it is our view that it is in the best interest of the student body and families of The Covenant Preparatory School (“Covenant”) to open for the 2020-2021 academic year with traditional attendance. Covenant will offer a distance learning option for families that prefer for their children not to participate in traditional attendance. In reaching this decision, we have considered the order issued by the Harris County Health Authority and the City of Houston Health Authority imposing certain restrictions on public schools under their jurisdiction based on their opinion of public health risks. We have also considered the July 17, 2020 letter by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton concluding that religious private schools are exempt from such orders. We have further considered guidance issued by the Texas Education Agency and other available information to make our decision.
