The Township entered into an Interlocal Agreement for Assessing Services with the City of Grand Ledge and City of DeWitt on April 1, 2021. This agreement has been successful in providing high quality professional services to the community and efficiency by sharing the personnel costs with our municipal neighbors. I would recommend an extension of this interlocal agreement for Assessing Services with the City of Grand Ledge and City of DeWitt to expire March 31, 2028.

Our current Assessor plans on retiring in April of 2021 after a long tenure of service to the Township and Community. To fill this position, the Township has three options: post and advertise for a new Assessor, hire an outside firm to perform Assessing services or partner with neighboring municipalities. After much consideration, I believe partnering with the City of Grand Ledge and the City of DeWitt would continue a high level Assessing service, bolster our potential for succession planning within the department and save taxpayer funds.
