Contract Type FiledMarch 18th, 2019The Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the EU and six countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC)1 is a well balanced agreement, also in terms of tariff concessions in sectors important for both EU economic operators and those in the relevant SADC countries. Apart from those concessions, the parties to the EPA have recognised the importance of environmental, labour and social standards. Any breach of the relevant commitments as included in the agreement can be raised in the framework of the EPA. In addition, the Commission is applying its current regulatory sanitary and phyto-sanitary requirements to imports of citrus from South Africa.
