An agreement has been reached between the Federal government (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Justice), the State of Hawaii (Hawaii Department of Health, Hawaii Attorney General’s Office), and the City and County of Honolulu to address vulnerabilities in Honolulu’s sewage collection system. The settlement has been lodged in U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii and will be available for a 30-day public comment period before the U.S. seeks court approval of the settlement.
