The purpose of this Agreement is to establish and maintain a harmonious relationship between the Employer and its employees; to provide an amicable method of fairly and peacefully adjusting any disputes which may arise between the Employer and its employees and to recognize the value of joint discussion, and to establish and maintain mutually satisfactory working conditions, hours of work and wages for all employees who are subject to the provisions of this agreement and, further, subject to the fulfilling of the objectives of the Employer, to give service to the public in accordance with the following principles as affirmed by the Canadian Library Association:
