In 2019 the Anton Art center was approached by the chair of the Downtown Development Authority to help spearhead a new effort to build a live-work facility focused on artists here in Mount Clemens. After working to help assemble a local steering committee, the committee commenced raising funds necessary to contract Artspace, a national non-profit developer of workforce housing for creative people and their families to begin the investigatory and planning work to determine whether Mount Clemens was a reasonable or desirable place to build such a facility.
