The general purpose of this agreement is to ensure for the company, the unlicensed employees the Union the full benefits of orderly legal collective bargaining. To provide for the most reasonable operations of the ship, the Portland Carrier, under methods which will further, to the fullest extent possible, the safety and welfare of the said employees and economy of operation. It is recognized by this agreement to be the duty of the Union, the and said employees, to cooperate fully, individually and collectively for the advancement of these conditions.
