As well as having environmental benefits, an ambitious climate policy also provides opportunities for our economy, our prosperity and our earning capacity. Starting earlier will give us a head start compared to other countries. This gives us more time to develop new ideas and technologies, which can subsequently be exported. At the same time, we will work on creating a more attractive business climate. As a prosperous and innovative nation, the Netherlands is perfectly positioned to succeed in ensuring that prosperity increases while greenhouse gas emissions decrease.
