Pedestrian accommodation needs have been identified along Cheyenne Road to and from Summitt and High Point Elementary schools. With the relatively new Cheyenne Valley development, alternative transportation needs WILL only increase. This project also provides additional connections to the North Street project that is currently in the Engineering phase. Another consideration is that this project will also provide future connections to the Chadwick Flyer Trail and the Finley River Connector Trail.

For some time the City of Chesterfield has been pursuing a grant to construct a missing section of sidewalk on Schoettler Road from Windsor Valley Court to Greenleaf Valley Court. Because Schoettler Road was a County Road until 2011 it does not meet many of the City of Chesterfield standards, including sidewalk on both sides of the roadway.
