The Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) is a multicenter cohort study initiated in 1989 to investigate risk factors for cardiovascular disease in adults 65 years or older. Between 1989 and 1999 annual clinic visits alternated at 6 month intervals with phone contacts. From 1999 to the present time, 6-month phone follow-up continues.
