Strode College Access Agreement 2018-19October 16th, 2017
FiledOctober 16th, 2017Strode College has delivered Higher Education courses since 2006 in partnership with Plymouth University and with Pearson since 2012. Somerset has no university to support its community and therefore all HE provision is delivered through Further Education colleges. Local businesses struggle to recruit employees with appropriate skills and experience, and the need to raise ambition amongst young people in the area to secure future growth is recognised. The percentage of people with qualifications at Levels 2-3 in the area is comparable with the national average but the proportion of adults qualified at Level 4 and above is well below the UK norm. In addition, the proportion of Somerset’s school leavers going into Higher Education has traditionally been lower than that in many areas of the country.
