Approval by the Board of Education of a Services Agreement 2023-2024 by and between the District and Playworks, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide: the contractor, Playworks, will provide monthly professional development to teachers and training to student leaders to support structured play among students. For one week each month during the school year, a Playworks coach will be assigned to Markham to facilitate student engagement through play. The coach will create a daily recess support schedule for student leaders and schedule individual class time with teachers and students. The Playworks coach will also communicate directly with teachers to observe and improve student interactions. All TK-5th grade students will be supported by the Playworks coach in gaining skills to engage in safe and structured play for the period of September 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024 in an amount not to exceed $24,000.00.
