Contract Type FiledAugust 4th, 2016The Saginaw Public School District serves just over 6,500 students within ten elementary, one middle, and three high schools, an early childhood development center buildings, and a career and technical education facility. The district is led by the seven-member Saginaw Board of Education and Superintendent Nathaniel B. McClain. There are more than 500 educators and support staff employed by the district. SPSD has 62% of its students deemed economically disadvantaged and one hundred percent of its eligible students participate in the free and reduced lunch program. Saginaw Public School District has an average top to bottom ranking at the 21st percentile since 2012.The district’s graduation rate over the past five years has trended up from 60.03% in 2011 to 74.10% in 2015. During this timeframe the dropout rate has been reduced from 19.45% to 13.52% respectively.
