Since 2008, Avera St. Luke’s Hospital has provided athletic trainer services to Northern State University (see attachment I). The recent expansion of the Barnett Center has opened to general use some portions of the facility that previously were reserved to varsity athletes. The weight room numbers among these facilities. Permitted users include any student enrolled at NSU and members of the Aberdeen community – pursuant to agreements dating from the time when the Barnett Center was first constructed and reflecting contributions by the City of Aberdeen to the original construction costs.
