The International Press Institute and the Inter-American Association of Broadcasters sharing a common commitment to freedom of expression and the protection of human rights, jointly declare their concern about attempts to establish international curtailments of freedom of press and broadcasting and their determination to oppose with vigor any action at national and international level tending to suppress or limit the freedoms and rights they exist to defend. They agree that when these freedoms are under attack they will take joint action where it seems appropriate to their respective organizations.
