The principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capabilities (CBDR-RC) as the leading principle in international environmental law is a bridge to balance the interests of the two groups. However, in international legal instruments, there are different implementations of these principles with each approach used. This study aims to analyze the application of the CBDR-RC principle in the Paris Agreement compared with its predecessor, the Kyoto Protocol. The research method in this paper is a normative juridical approach presented in analytical descriptive. The results identified that the Kyoto Protocol is a Top-Down approach agreement, where the reduction target is decided.
