This equipment is essential for the City to meet the National Polluted Elimination System Permit requirements for removing debris from streets before it enters the lakes. The equipment is being purchased from Environmental Products of Florida pursuant to a cooperative purchasing arrangement for state and local governments with Sourcewell Contract #122017-FSC, and is being financed through Leasing 2, Inc. Due to the increased cost of heavy equipment over the last few years, the City’s equipment replacement fund has not been able to keep up with the increased demand, thereby resulting in insufficient funds to directly purchase the Elgin Street Sweepers.
