Contract Type FiledAugust 10th, 2023Over the course of three years, Congressional leaders worked in a bipartisan, bicameral manner to end the practice of surprise medical billing. The successful agreement, now known as the No Surprises Act (P.L. 116-120, “the statute”), was crafted with precision, and was transmitted to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor, and Treasury (collectively “the Departments”) for execution. I write to reiterate my deep concern about how your agency has seen fit to interpret Congressional statute, and urge HHS to immediately remedy the issues outlined below.
