(In fact he tabled his hand, announcing his line of play). Whether West continued spades or led a heart, Sheldon would win the heart, draw trumps, ruff his last spade, and cash three rounds of hearts, ending in the dummy, which still had one trump remaining. In a classical endplay formation, he led a diamond from dummy, and covered whatever card East would play. If West won, that defender would be endplayed, forced to leading a diamond back into the tenace; or leading a major suit, which would
