The Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township (the “District”) and the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Educational Opportunities Section (the “United States”) (collectively, the “Parties”) voluntarily enter into this Memorandum of Agreement (“Agreement”) to improve the District’s ability to prevent and appropriately respond to peer-on-peer harassment based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, and other characteristics protected by federal civil rights laws, including Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000c et seq. (“Title IV”), which prohibits discrimination against students by public schools.
