This is an introductory course designed to provide the student with the skills to be accurate and communicate effectively as part of the health care team. This course teaches the student to acquire manual skills such as obtaining blood specimen by venipuncture , skin puncture techniques as well as mental skills such as ability to recognize efficiently, perform under pressure and follow written standard procedures, Student will obtain thorough knowledge of laboratory test requirement and departmental policies. Student will also receive training in the collection and transportation of specimens which includes blood, urine, sputum, tissue and blood samples.

The student will be able to perform patient assessment , identify abnormalities of the cardiovascular system , interpret basic arrythmias , perform and interpret electrocardiograph (EKG) results which will help the student become a member of the healthcare delivery team in hospitals, clinics , physician offices and cardiac rehabilitation centers.

The student will learn proper positioning, use of assistive devices and physical therapy exercises. Physical Restorative Aide works with Physical Therapist and Restorative Nurses in the healthcare facility. They also work in public and private hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers and school for physically challenged.
