This agreement, awarded by the Office of Justice Program’s (OJP) National Institute of Justice (NIJ), provided a total of $1,237,850 to the Laboratory, including an initial award of $248,375 in September 2004 and one supplemental award of $989,475 in September 2005.1 The Laboratory agreed to a matching contribution of $82,815, bringing the total cost of the project to $1,320,665. The purpose of the agreement was to fund a laboratory improvement program that would expand the Laboratory’s information management system, enhance the analytical capabilities for toxicology and DNA testing, decrease the backlog of drug chemistry cases, and modernize the firearms laboratory.2
