Galveston Independent School District makes a variety of communications and information technologies available to students and District employees through computer/network/Internet access. These technologies, when properly used, promote educational excellence in the District by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication within the District. Illegal, unethical or inappropriate use of these technologies can have dramatic consequences, harming the District, its students and its employees. These Acceptable Use Guidelines are intended to minimize the likelihood of such harm by educating District students and employees and setting standards which will serve to protect the District. The Galveston Independent School District (GISD) strongly believes in the educational value of electronic services and recognizes the potential to support curriculum and student learning by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication.
