The State and Commonwealth entered into a Regional Forest Agreement (Agreement) in relation to the East Gippsland region of Victoria on 3 February 1997. The Agreement was amended on 20 January 2017 to extend the Agreement to 27 March 2018. The Agreement establishes the framework for the management of the forests of the East Gippsland region of Victoria.
