The University of Southern Mississippi (USM or University) voluntarily enters into this Resolution Agreement (Agreement), as set forth below, with the U.S. Department of Education (Department), Office for Civil Rights (OCR), Dallas Office, to ensure its compliance with the requirements of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. 1681 et seq. (Title IX), and its implementing regulations at 34 C.F.R. Part 106. The University is subject to Title IX because it receives Federal financial assistance from the Department. Accordingly, to ensure compliance with Title IX and to resolve this investigation, the University voluntarily agrees to the terms of this Agreement and agrees to comply fully with its provisions. This commitment does not relieve the University from fulfilling its other obligations under Title IX or resolve any other individual or class complaint against the University.
