The interest rate swap agreements are agreements in which the Company agrees to pay a fixed interest rate based on the rate specified in the agreement in exchange for receiving a floating interest rate from a third-party bank based upon a specified benchmark interest rate. In June 2019, the Company entered into interest rate swap agreements with a notional amount of $850 million. These contracts, which were settled in November 2019, effectively fixed the interest rate for a portion of the Company’s U.S. dollar- denominated debt issued in November 2019 equal to the notional amount of the swaps to the rate specified in the interest rate swap agreements.
