This manual implements Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 44-1, Medical Operations. It describes the procedures for establishing Air Force Medical Service training affiliation agreements (TAA). It applies to all Air Force units and uniformed members and employees in the Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and Air National Guard with one exception: it does not apply to the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). This instruction interfaces with Title 28, U.S.C., Section 2679, and Air Force Instruction (AFI) 51-302, Medical Law. The authorities to waive wing/unit level requirements in this publication are identified with a Tier (“T-0, T-1, T-2, T-3”) number following the compliance statement.
