Prior to November 2015, the City was a party in a multi-jurisdiction agreement for library services with most Des Moines Metro communities. In 2015, the City was the only municipality involved in the agreement without its own library; therefore, in an effort to reduce the annual library services agreement from over $200,000 to $90,000, yet still provide access to all area libraries, the City chose to negotiate with only one provider. After review of our residents’ circulation data, the City entered into a three-year agreement with the City of Urbandale.
