On September 15, 2016, the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Dominican Republic signed an intergovernmental agreement (“IGA”) entitled, “Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Dominican Republic to Improve International Tax Compliance and to Implement FATCA.” The IGA requires, in particular, the exchange of certain information with respect to U.S. and the Dominican Republic Reportable Accounts on an automatic basis, pursuant to the provisions of Article 4 of the Agreement for the Exchange of Information with Respect to Taxes between the United States of America and the Dominican Republic, done at Santa Domingo on August 7, 1989 (the “TIEA”).
