Article 18, Section A. It is recognized that teachers are professionals, and therefore, their primary duties may not always be accomplished entirely within the scheduled work day. However, teachers shall be assigned appropriate starting and dismissal times, provided that the total regular work day will be no longer than 7 hours and 35 minutes consecutively, except for one Back-To-School night per year and when faculty meetings are held. Teacher attendance at Back-To-School night will not extend beyond two hours and thirty minutes. Teachers who are unable to attend Back-To-School night due to extenuating circumstances may, in cooperation with their principals, make other arrangements for presentation of their programs to parents. In the event that it becomes necessary to assign nonteaching duties during the regular work day, such duties will be assigned on a just basis.
