Rationale: The Wisconsin Technical College System prepares students entering the early childhood profession by offering an Applied Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. The School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville offers a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Middle Childhood Education (Birth-Age11). The Associate Degree programs place a high degree of emphasis upon application of child development knowledge as entry level skills while the bachelor’s degree at UW-Platteville builds upon introductory application skills by adding theoretical coursework, analytical and critical thinking competencies, and internships.
